ISO / IEC / IEEE 29119 software testing

The ISO / IEC / IEEE 29119 Software Testing standard replaces the internationally known IEEE 829 ( test documentation ), IEEE 1008 ( unit testing ) and BS 7925 (test techniques) standards in the field of software testing . It consists of five internationally agreed ISO standards , five of which have been published so far.

Rejection of the standard

There is considerable resistance from the software test community to the standardization of software tests. In particular, the context-driven community and the organization International Society for Software Testing (now dissolved) reject the standard resolutely and take the position that professional testing cannot be squeezed into a standard. There are also doubts about the extent to which the claim can be made that the standard has been agreed internationally, since the working group that developed the standard only represents a small, non-representative selection. Another accusation is that the standard focuses primarily on heavy-weight processes and their documentation. The extent to which such a procedure can be applied to agile software development is questioned.
