Icing the kicker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Icing the kicker is a term that can be assigned to American football and denotes the taking of a break with which one would like to unsettle the kicker .

In particular, shortly before decisive field goal attempts, coaches take a timeout in order to disrupt the process and the preparation of the kicker. It should be noted that the time-out is only taken shortly before the snap . The time in which the kicker thinks about the field goal can lead to a missed attempt. However, the chances of success are questionable.
