Ideokinetic apraxia - also ideomotor apraxia - is a form of apraxia and the result of brain damage. A correct plan is in place , but it cannot be implemented in a meaningful way (motor skills without disrupting the concept). Movements are either executed fragmentarily or replaced by faulty ones. Lesions of the parietal lobe (control of visual attention and spatial functions, where and what system ) and the commissures (connections between the hemispheres ) are to blame .

Typical failures are e.g. B.

  • Execution of actions and gestures (on command; e.g. pointing gestures, motor actions such as lighting a cigarette or unlocking a door)
  • Imitations

Competencies obtained are among others

  • spontaneous gestures (e.g. flawless, quick gripping of an object) and handling of objects (knowledge of an object is available, but you don't know how to use it)
  • Concept formation of actions
