Idiomuscular bulge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The idiomuscular bulge describes a form of excitability of the muscles used in the context of determining the time of death . A mechanical stimulus, e.g. B. by a reflex hammer, a local contraction of the muscles is triggered, which can only be palpable but not visible if there is a lot of subcutaneous fat . The idiomuscular bulge is preferably tested by striking the biceps brachii with force . As a rule, it can be triggered up to eight hours after death (in exceptional cases up to twelve hours).
