Ilussa-amur

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ilussa-amur was an Assyrian prophetess . Possibly she was employed at the temple of Aššur . Several prophecies that she sent to King Aššur-aḫḫe-iddina are preserved in the Assyrian state archives .

It is controversial whether she wasn't more of a man. Although it carries the feminine determinative , it is named with a masculine pronoun . This phenomenon is also known from Mari , where prophets were assigned to both sexes in texts.
