Vaccination (Latin imputare , "cut in, graft") describes various procedures in medicine and the natural sciences:

  • Vaccination in medicine, the administration of a vaccine with the aim of protecting against a communicable disease through active or passive immunization
  • Inoculation , in biology or microbiology, the transfer of viable biological material to a culture medium or to an experimental animal
  • Inoculation (chemistry) , the introduction of crystallization nuclei in supercooled melts or supersaturated solutions
  • Inoculation of the melt , in metallurgy a process of melt treatment, for example in the manufacture of cast iron
