The word impotence (from Latin impotentia "inability, inability") is the generic term for the functional disorders:

  • Erectile dysfunction : also impotentia coeundi , the inability to get an erection or to keep it for a long enough time
  • Anejaculation : also called impotentia ejaculandi , the inability to ejaculate
  • Impotentia generandi : the inability to conceive children despite the undisturbed ability to have an erection and orgasm
