Impregnation (from Latin impraegnare "pregnant") stands for:

  • the penetration of a sperm cell into the egg cell during fertilization
  • the impregnation of a porous material (wood, textiles, natural stone, etc.) with a liquid mostly containing binders , some of which remains in the material, see impregnation
  • in geology, the penetration of dissolved minerals into the pores of rocks, see impregnation (geology)
