In-line compounding

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under in-line compounding, refers to the compounding of a polymeric molding compound and the immediate (direct) processing the finished product without going through a granulate or semi-finished product . Because this intermediate step is omitted, one speaks in this context of a direct procedure. This technology is usually found in the processing of long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) , as it allows longer fibers (usually several mm) to be achieved in the component compared to the use of semi-finished products, which has positive effects on the mechanical property profile (strength, Stiffness and, above all, impact strength).
