Individual dominance
The individual dominance (D N ) is an ecological variable that represents the degree of dominance of a single species within a community ( biocenosis ) in relation to the total number of individuals in all its species. It is thus a measure of the percentage frequency of an individual species within their community.
Within ecology, communities are often described and delimited from one another based on their dominant species.
calculation
The individual dominance is determined as
where the individual dominance denotes the number of individuals of the examined species A and the sum of the individuals of all species.
