Lists on the subject |
The Indo-Persian battle ax is a weapon and a ceremonial item from India and Persia.
description
The Indo-Persian battle ax has a curved, crescent-shaped, single-edged blade. On the opposite side of the blade there is a flat or pointed face. The shaft is usually made of metal. Some versions contain a hidden, triangular pusher blade in the shaft, which can be up to 50 cm long. The handle of the dagger also forms the pommel of the ax. There are so many versions that an exact description is difficult (see pictures under web links). Since they were found in India and Persia, the similarity to other Indian and Persian axes is explained. These battle axes are used as combat and ceremonial weapons.
