history
The association was founded on March 7, 1815 as the 27th Infantry Regiment and for a number of years from November 5, 1816 to March 9, 1823 it was called the 27th Infantry Regiment (2nd Magdeburg Regiment). In the course of the army expansion, it was renamed the 2nd Magdeburg Infantry Regiment No. 27 on July 4, 1860. One last change came into force on January 27, 1889, when Kaiser Wilhelm II renamed the association to Infantry Regiment "Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia" (2nd Magdeburgisches) No. 27.
From 1820 to 1914 the regiment was subordinate to the IV Army Corps and during this time belonged to the 7th Division . Until 1851 it belonged to the 7th Infantry Brigade and the rest of the time to the 14th Infantry Brigade .
The regiment was founded from the 9th and 10th companies of the foreign voluntary hunter corps "von Reiche" by Ludwig von Reiche , the 11th and 12th companies of the Hellwig Freikorps by Friedrich von Hellwig . In 1859 heavy charges took place, including to the 59th Infantry Regiment .
On September 27, 1866, the 12th, 13th and 14th companies were transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 79 . Further donations were the 3rd Company in 1881 to the Infantry Regiment No. 98 , the 10th Company in 1887 to the Infantry Regiment No. 136 and the 4th Battalion in 1897 to the Infantry Regiment No. 152 .
The collar and epaulette were red, the lapels light blue, the flap dark blue and the regimental number yellow.

Locations were Frankfurt (Oder) , Soldin , Königsberg in the Neumark (1816/17); Magdeburg (1817 to 1865, next to Torgau [1817/18], Burg [1819 to 1821], Wittenberg [1830 to 1837, 1844 to 1853, 1857 to 1860], Baden [1849/50] and Halberstadt [1860 to 1865]) , Halle an der Saale and Magdeburg (1865), Magdeburg (1866 to 1893, next to it Burg [1866], Halberstadt [1867], Burg [1868 to 1871], Wittenberg [1872] and Halberstadt [1873 to 1893]) and Halberstadt ( 1893).
Calls
After its re-formation, the regiment took part in the summer campaign of 1815 . He fought at Ligny for the village of Tongrines, losing 14 officers and 210 men. Another 13 officers and 394 men were killed at Wavre . It also took part in the siege of Saarlouis.
Baden Revolution
During the suppression of the Baden Revolution , the fusilier battalion took part in the battles at Ubstadt , Durlach and Michelbach in 1849 .
German war
In the German War of 1866 it was part of the 7th Infantry Division of the 1st Army . It fought in the battle of Königgrätz in the forest near Swiep near Benatek and Maslowed with infantry regiment No. 26 . It lost 25 officers and 444 men. Then it fought at Pressburg. During the fighting, Colonel von Zychlinski and Captain von Buddenbrock earned the order Pour le Mérite .
Franco-German War
In 1870 it was used in the Franco-German War .
First World War
On August 2, 1914, the regiment was mobilized according to the mobilization plan . In addition to the back end of the field regiment it turned a reserve battalion to four companies and two recruits - depots on. On September 2, 1918, the regiment received its own mine thrower company, which was formed from parts of the mine thrower company No. 113 .
