Infestation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Infestation (of lat .: infestare attack) the settlement is an organism with a parasite called that does not multiply in the host organism. The term invasion is also used synonymously .

As an example, the colonization of the intestinal tract with a tapeworm can be cited, for example with the rat tapeworm Hymenolepis diminuta , where the intermediate hosts are mealworms and larvae of dog and rat flea and humans become infected through ingestion of infected insect larvae.

The repopulation of a host after an initially successful cure is called reinfestation.
