Integrated remote management controller

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The integrated Remote Management Controller (iRMC) is similar to the IPMI interface, a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) with an integrated LAN connection, but with extended functionality that was previously only offered with additional plug-in cards. The iRMC standard is based on the IPMI interface as an extension and was developed by Fujitsu Technology Solutions (FTS), formerly Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC). In this way, the iRMC enables comprehensive control of servers, regardless of the system status, in particular also the control of servers that are in the " out of band " system status.

As an autonomous system on the system board of a current server, the iRMC has its own operating system, its own web server as well as its own user administration and independent alarm management. The iRMC is also supplied with power when the server is in standby mode.

The iRMC is currently used on all larger Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers.
