Interactive digital signage

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Interactive Digital Signage (dt .: Interactive Digital Signage) is used as an extension of the term Digital Signage . The technologies used in digital signage in advertising and information systems such as electronic posters, advertising in shops , and much more. are expanded to include the ability to interact with touchscreen functionality.

Areas of application

Interactive digital signage solutions are mainly used in areas with direct user contact. Museums and public institutions (such as the German Bundestag) use this technology as do companies and leisure sponsors. The required information can be called up directly through the interactive component. There are no waiting times compared to a classic, time-controlled, digital display.

service

Interactive digital signage technology is operated using the gestures familiar from smartphones . Depending on the software provider of the content management system (CMS) used, the functionality of these can be expanded.

Classification of Interactive Digital Signage

Example: Advertisements in the window of a real estate agent

A real estate agent hangs out advertisements in A4 format in the shop window of his office. A passerby can look at them. If advertisements have expired or are out of date, new advertisements are printed out and exchanged in the shop window. The number of advertisements is limited by the shop window area. Several displays are installed in the realtor's shop window. Multiple advertisements can be displayed digitally based on a chronological sequence (slide show). A viewer has to wait until the desired advertisement appears again after the period has expired. The number of advertisements is limited, as the total time it takes to run through all advertisements per advertisement increases by n + 1. A touchscreen is installed in the realtor's shop window. Via this, a viewer can use a touch gesture to scroll through all the offers stored in the system, filter or search specifically. If desired, they can submit their contact information directly to request further information.

software

Software solutions in interactive digital signage differ from classic digital signage systems. While pure distribution software is mainly used in digital signage, it is much more complex in interactive digital signage. Due to the possibility of interaction by the user, different levels, menus or contact forms must also be integrated in the software.

hardware

To use touch functionality on a screen, the hardware must meet various requirements. Multi-touch capability is particularly important for operating an interactive digital signage solution. MultiTouch is a term for touch screens that can recognize several touch points (e.g. fingers) at the same time. This enables zooming (2 fingers), for example.

Touchscreens can be installed on walls, in touch tables or steles and are always connected to a PC .
