Interception System Switzerland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Interception System Switzerland ( ISS ) is a system that allows the state to monitor telephone and Internet traffic .

history

The new interception system, which was procured in 2010 for 18 million Swiss francs, should have replaced the outdated predecessor system. However, the introduction was canceled due to insufficient quality. The legal basis for such systems is the Federal Act on the Monitoring of Postal and Telecommunications Traffic (BÜPF), which was voted on by Parliament on September 25, 2018. The BÜPF referendum committee was only able to present 55,000, of which 45,000 were authenticated signatures out of 50,000 required notarized signatures in order to attempt a referendum (BÜPF referendum).
