International Council for Open and Distance Education

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Council for Open and Distance Learning (ICDE), founded in 1938, was partly funded by a grant from the Norwegian government and has been based in Oslo since 1988.

The ICDE operates worldwide and, in addition to its association with UNESCO, is also a member of SEAMEO (South East Asian Ministers of Education Organization) and a partner organization of the World Bank. In 2003 the ICDE signed a new agreement with the OAS / OAE (Organization of American States / Organization de Estados Americanos).

In addition to creating qualitative standards in the open and distance education sector, ICDE aims to promote international cooperation in the field of education.
