The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is a non-profit association dedicated to business analysis . The organization is aimed at people who work in business analysis, system analysis , requirements analysis or management, project management , consulting, process improvement .

aims

The IIBA pursues the following goals: Promote awareness and recognition of the job description of "business analyst", provide global standards for the practice of business analysis and for personal certification in business analysis.

subjects

The IIBA gives u. a. the Guide to Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK Guide) , which describes the following areas of knowledge in business analysis.
Planning and monitoring of the business analysis : planning of the business analysis tasks to be carried out.
Survey and collaboration : determining the requirements of the stakeholders.
Management of the requirements lifecycle : Manage requirements.
Strategic analysis :
Determine the current state, describe existing problems / opportunities, define goals, design approaches, determine the scope of the solution, create a business case .
Requirements analysis and design definition : prioritize, structure (selection of text, graphics and / or model for documenting requirements), specify (document requirements in text form), model (document requirements with graphics / models), verify (check for formal quality), validate (check for compliance with objectives).
Solution evaluation : proposed or implemented (IT) solutions check whether they provide the benefit / added value for which they were implemented.

Certifications

IIBA offers several personal certifications. These include Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) and Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) .

history

In 2003 IIBA was founded in Canada.
In 2005 , versions 1 and 1.4 of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge appeared. In
2006 , the Endorsed Education Provider (EEP) program was introduced (seminar providers can have their training courses certified by the IIBA). The Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) personal certification is being offered for the first time.
In 2009 the IIBA Business Analysis Competency Model is published (description of what knowledge business analysts with different levels of experience should have). Version 2 of BABOK is published.
In 2011 , the Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) personal
certification was published.
In 2012 the BABOK will be published in German.
In 2015 BABOK v3 will be released.
