International Ocean Color Coordinating Group

International Ocean Color Coordinating Group (IOCCG) is an international program for the exchange of information and for maintaining contacts between users, decision-makers and agencies in the field of ocean color .

IOCCG was launched in 1996 by scientists and the international space agencies. For example, the marine food webs were documented and analyzed using satellite images. Coastal areas were also observed more closely in order to establish statements about the development of oceans and coastal sections as well as about the spatial and temporal occurrences and distributions of environmental parameters.

IOCCG works under the umbrella of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) . It is an associate member of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) .
