International organization for the cable car industry

The International Organization for the Cable Car Industry (OITAF) (Italian Organizzazione internazionale trasporti a fune ) was founded in 1959 in Milan (Italy). It has members from 30 countries around the world. The secretariat is in Rome .

founding

The foundation was based on the need to cover all three categories of the cable car industry , namely:

  • the operator or the cable car operator
  • the manufacturers of the cable car systems
  • the supervisory authorities (representing the state or users)

to unite in a single organization in order to be able to solve upcoming problems together.

It also includes institutions that carry out development and research for the cable car industry, such as B. Universities, colleges and laboratories as well as individual members whose work or interest lies in the cable car sector.

purpose

  • promoting the economic, technical and legal development and progress of the cable car industry
  • the promotion of studies and experiments that serve the development and progress of the cable car industry
  • promoting the harmonization of national legislation in the field of cable cars.
  • Elaboration of uniform international guidelines for the planning, construction, operation, maintenance or control of cable cars as well as appropriate recommendations.
  • Implementation of the International Cable Car Congress (every 6 years).
  • Conducting annual seminars except in the years in which the OITAF congresses are held
