International Archives Council

The International Council on Archives (Engl. International Council on Archives ICA - double. Conseil International des Archives CIA) is a Founded in 1948, non-governmental organization based in Paris, dedicated to the archives.

National archives administrations, professional associations of archivists, municipal and city archives, archives of other organizations and individual archivists are united in the ICA. It has around 1500 members from 195 countries and territories.

The council is organized on a decentralized basis with regional branches, sections and working groups.

The ICA is a founding member of the culture protection organization Blue Shield International . In this context, the national and international protection of archives is to be ensured as part of the growing cultural heritage.
