International Peace Prize (World Peace Council)

The International Peace Prize (also known as the World Peace Prize ) was launched at the 1st  World Peace Congress ( Paris, April 1949) and was awarded to artists for the first time at the 2nd World Peace Congress (Warsaw, November 1950) for special achievements in the field of world peace. From 1951 the prizes were awarded by the World Peace Council (which was constituted after the Warsaw Congress) . The last time the International Peace Prize was awarded was in 1956.

In November 1957, the nominated Bertrand Russell expressly refused to accept the award.
