Iteratives

Iterativa (from Latin iterare repeat; also called iterative verbs or Frequentiva) are verbs that denote a repeated action.

Examples:

  • clamitare (Latin) often to call (from clamare to call)
  • dictitare (Latin) to say often (to say from dicere )
  • chadzać (Polish) often go / use to go (from chodzić to go)

Verbs can also have secondary meanings such as smallness or a little. Examples:

  • taunt often sting a little
  • stroking often a little stroking
