Jürgen P. Lang (born June 12, 1964 in Regensburg ) is a German political scientist . He works as a freelance publicist and editor for Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich .

Scientific activity

Jürgen P. Lang studied political science and German in Berlin and Munich. In 2003 he did his doctorate with Eckhard Jesse at the TU Chemnitz with an extremism-theoretical investigation of the PDS . His main research interests are political extremism , the history of political ideas and parties. With the democratic revolution in the GDR , he was interested in the transformation of the SED state party into the PDS. Since then, Lang has been involved in a large number of publications and lectures, including with this party.

Lang sees extremist tendencies in the PDS and the successor organization Die Linke . In his publications, Lang advocates a normative concept of extremism that is directed against opponents of democracy of all stripes. Most recently, he dealt with the New Right's school of thought and its influence on the AfD .

Lang gave lectures for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation , the Hanns Seidel Foundation , the Friedrich Naumann Foundation , the Point Alpha Academy, the Academy for Political Education Tutzing, the State Centers for Political Education in Bavaria , Thuringia and , among others Saxony-Anhalt . He is a member of the Veldenstein Circle for Research on Extremism and Democracy.
