JX Holdings KK ( Japanese JX ホ ー ル デ ィ ン グ ス 株式会社 , JX Hōrudingusu Kabushiki kaisha , English JX Holdings, Inc. ) is a Japanese group of companies based in Chiyoda , Tokyo Prefecture .

history

On December 4, 2008, the companies Nippon Oil and Nippon Mining announced that they were aiming for a merger. This merger was intended to create a new holding company, creating JX Holdings. The contract to re-establish the JX Group was signed in December 2009, and the company was established and went public on April 1, 2010.

Corporate structure

The operational business consists of the companies JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation , JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation and JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation . The share of sales in the core business at JX Oil & Energy is 84.4%, JX Oil & Gas Exploration 1.5% and JX Mining & Metals 9.8%.

Origin of name

The name of the company is made up of J for Japan and X for the unknown challenges in the future.
