Jack N. Green

Jack N. Green (* 10. August 1939 as John Niel Green in San Francisco , California ) is an American cameraman.

Live and act

Green, the son of a still photographer, received his first camera at the age of nine and has since dealt with all areas of photo production. His hobby turned into a job, and Green worked as a photo assistant in San Francisco for three years before moving to Los Angeles in 1968. There he photographed industrial and educational films, documentaries and news material for television. Over the years Green advanced to become a simple cameraman (so-called camera operator ), in this position he made his debut in 1975 in the movie, Roger Corman Cross and drive to hell .

By the early 1980s, Green was involved in several films by and with Clint Eastwood . In 1986 he was named chief cameraman and first appeared in the film Heartbreak Ridge .

Green worked as a cameraman for Eastwood up to and including the film Space Cowboys from 2000.

In 1997 Green made his film director debut and directed the drama Traveler, starring Bill Paxton and Mark Wahlberg . Four years later he directed the thriller Pretty When You Cry .

In 2009, Green received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Cinematographers . Green was nominated for an Oscar and a British Academy Film Award for his work on the Western Merciless .

Green has three children, all of whom are in the film business.
