Typical shape of a Jackson RR

The Randy Rhoads is the first series model from the American electric guitar manufacturer Jackson . It has been offered since 1982.

The shape of the body is based on that of the Gibson Flying V , but with asymmetrical, pointed ribs . The instrument has one or two humbuckers often one, Floyd-Rose - tremolo and usually 22 or 24 frets . The head plate is held in the manufacturer typical design, an extra charge is an upward (downward instead of execution English : Reversed head stock ) is available.

The model has already been made from different types of wood. Alder wood or maple wood is often used on both the neck and the body . There were and are versions with a continuous neck as well as with a screwed neck as well as numerous special models with a wide variety of effect paints, some with active pickups and special electronic circuits. Completely individual pieces or small series models are produced in the company's own custom shop.

The Randy Rhoads is still one of the most popular Jackson guitars; its body shape was soon also imitated by other manufacturers , for example by ESP .
