James White Award
The James White Award is a British literary prize that has been awarded since 2001 for short stories from the field of science fiction. The award honors the memory of the science fiction author James White, who died in 1999 .
The prize is aimed at new authors, so professional authors are excluded from participation, i.e. those who have published three short stories or a novel in a professional medium (magazine or publisher). Only unpublished texts will be accepted. The winners will be determined by a jury in an open competition. The competition was first held in 2001.
The prize was worth £ 200 in 2018, and the award-winning story will be published in Interzone magazine, which is also a sponsor of the competition. The competition was originally organized by its initiator James Bacon and is now by the British Science Fiction Association .
