List of breeds of chicken

The Java is a domestic chicken breed bred in the USA from various Asian breeds . It was bred around 1850 and is considered to be the second oldest breed of chicken bred in the USA after the Dominican . The Java chicken was at times considered the most profitable breed and was used in the breeding of many other breeds, but is itself classified as a critically endangered breed today and almost extinct by the 20th century. These are large, robust, dual-purpose chickens that look for a large part of their feed themselves under suitable conditions.
