Javier Cárdenas Flores (born November 23, 1956 ) is a retired Mexican soccer player whose regular position was in midfield .

Life

Javier Cárdenas received his first professional contract in the 1973/74 season with Toluca FC , with which he won the championship in the 1974/75 season.

Just a few months later, he made his debut on August 3, 1975 in the ranks of the Mexican national team , when they lost 0-1 to the GDR selection.

Cárdenas scored his two international goals in the October 1977 World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador (3-1) and Guatemala (2-1).

At the subsequent World Cup in 1978 , he played the first half in the last group game of the Mexicans against Poland (1: 3), who had to travel home after the game.

Cárdenas, who played his last international match against the Soviet Union (0-1) on January 31, 1979, moved to Chivas Guadalajara after the 1978 World Cup , where he was under contract for the next seven years and completed a total of 215 league games .
