Native larger mammals are the Dorcas gazelle and the threatened dune gazelle . Originally native species for which the park could offer potential habitats are the saber antelope and the mendes antelope . The latter has now been settled in large fenced areas of the Jebil National Park. In 2007, 15 mendes antelopes were introduced from Bou Hedma National Park and thirteen more from zoological gardens. The population grew to 45 animals in October 2010.
