Jelena Viktorovna Kononowa ( Russian Елена Викторовна Кононова ; born August 17, 1969 in Moscow , Soviet Union ; † May 22, 2014 in Kazan , Russia ) was a Russian football player . With the Russian national team she took part in the European Football Championships in 1993 , 1995 and 1997 . While Russia lost in the quarter-finals to Germany in 1993 and 1995, the team was eliminated in the preliminary round in 1997 after three defeats against Sweden , Spain and France .
