Jilib

Jilib (also Gilib or Gelib written) is a town in southern Somalia and is located in the region Middle Juba (Central Jubba ), whose largest city is about 45,000 inhabitants. Jilib is located at the mouth of the Shabeelle River in the Jubba, although the Shabeelle only reaches this when there is sufficient rainfall on its upper reaches.

On December 31, 2006/1. January 2007 saw the battle of Jilib between the Union of Islamic Courts and troops of Ethiopia and the Somali transitional government in Jilib and the surrounding area .
