Johann von Erwitte was Marshal of Westphalia around 1226 .

Life

Johann von Erwitte comes from the family of the Lords of Erwitte . He was the son of Rudolf II von Erwitte. Johann was married to a Hildegunde. Both together were founders of the Benninghausen monastery around 1240 . He appears on various occasions in the sources as a witness. In 1223 he and his brothers gave properties to the Oelinghausen monastery . Around 1226, as Marshal of Westphalia, he was secular deputy of the Archbishop of Cologne in his capacity as Duke of Westphalia .
