John Gray (knight)
Sir John Gray (also John de Gray ) († between 1349 and May 4, 1350) was an English knight.
John Gray was the eldest son of Roger Gray, 1st Baron Gray of Ruthin and his wife Elizabeth Hastings . During the Hundred Years War in 1343 he belonged to an English embassy in France. In 1346 he took part in the Battle of Crecy . After June 12, 1335 he had married Anne Montagu , the fourth daughter of William Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu and his wife Katharine Grandison . He died before his father. Since his marriage had remained childless, his younger brother Reynold became the heir to his father's estates and title. In his will, John Gray donated Luffield Priory in Northamptonshire with an annual income of £ 10 for a daily mass for the salvation of his grandfather John Gray, 2nd Baron Gray of Wilton, and for that of the royal family.
