John J. Babka

John Joseph Babka (born March 16, 1884 in Cleveland , Ohio , † March 22, 1937 there ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 21  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

biography

Babka was born in Cleveland, where he attended public schools. In 1908 he graduated from Cleveland State University with a law degree . He was admitted to the bar that same year and began working in Cleveland. In 1911 and 1912 he was an advisor to the Ohio Attorney General . He then served as Assistant District Attorney in Cuyahoga County for seven years .

In the 1918 congressional elections , Babka was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of Ohio's 21st District. There he represented the district for one legislative period and left the Congress in 1921. He then went back to his work as a lawyer. Babka was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco in 1920 and in Chicago in 1932 .

In 1937 he died in his hometown and was buried in Calvary Cemetery.
