history

In 1783 Richard Winstanley began his business as an auctioneer in London, which was continued by his son from 1806. From the Winstanley company , Jones Lang Wootton & Sons emerged in 1939 after a number of partnerships and mergers . After the end of the Second World War, Jones Lang Wootton set to the task of documenting property boundaries and locating the owners of thousands of small parcels in 1945, as the cadastral records were also destroyed as a result of bombing. This laid the foundation stone for the company to take a unique position in London with development licenses and agency contracts in 1954, when the city was busy rebuilding. Jones Lang Wootton began his international expansion in 1957 by opening offices in Australia and later in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan and Europe.

IDC Real Estate was founded in El Paso, Texas in 1968 by a group of professionals . After expanding beyond the country's borders and relocating to Chicago. IDC was subsequently renamed LaSalle Partners and became one of the leading real estate companies in the United States.

In 1973 Jones Lang Wootton opened his first office in Germany and in 1975 in New York the first office in the USA. In 1997 LaSalle Partners went public on the New York Stock Exchange .

In 1999, Jones Lang Wootton and LaSalle Partners merged to become Jones Lang LaSalle in the largest international merger in the real estate industry to date . Since then, Jones Lang LaSalle has been one of the leading international service companies in the investment and management of commercial real estate.

In Germany, Jones Lang LaSalle developed into the leading retail consultancy in 2008 through the acquisitions of Brune Consulting Management and Kemper's, the market leader in the retail property segment. Jones Lang LaSalle opened up the global consulting market for commercial real estate and took over, among others, the leading retail specialist Churston Heard in Great Britain and the specialist Alkas in Turkey. With the acquisition of the London-based real estate service provider King Sturge in 2011, JLL established itself as the market leader in Great Britain and continental Europe. In addition to King Sturge, JLL made eight other acquisitions in 2011 in the USA, South Africa, Singapore and Indonesia, including Procon, DST International and Keystone Partners. In 2011, JLL won the title “Fortune World's Most Admired Companies in 2011”. The acquisitions in 2012 include MPS Property in January, JER Partners in March and Credo Real Estate and 360 Commercial Partners in July. At the beginning of 2016, ACREST Property Group GmbH was acquired in the Asset Management division in Germany and subsequently integrated as JLL Retail Asset Management GmbH. In 2017 Zabel Property AG was acquired and in 2018 Zabel Property became JLL Residential Development . The subsidiary JLL Spark was founded in 2017 . In 2019 JLL took over the real estate investment service provider HFF.
