Joseph A. Conry

Joseph Aloysius Conry (born September 12, 1868 in Brookline , Massachusetts , †  June 22, 1943 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Conry attended public schools in his homeland. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Boston . Between 1896 and 1898 he was chairman of the local city council. Politically, Conry joined the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1900 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the ninth constituency of Massachusetts, where he succeeded John F. Fitzgerald on March 4, 1901 . Since he was not confirmed in 1902, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1903 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Joseph Conry practiced as a lawyer in addition to his other activities. Between 1912 and 1919 he was the Russian consul in the United States. For this he received a medal from Tsar Nicholas II . Between 1911 and 1916 he was a director of the Boston Harbor Administration. In 1938 and 1939 he served as special attorney for the United States Maritime Commission in the state capital Washington. He died there on June 22, 1943.
