Joyson Electronics (officially Ningbo Joyson Electronic Corporation , until 2014: Liaoyuan Joyson Electronic Corporation ) is a global supplier to the automotive industry , headquartered in Ningbo in the People's Republic of China . It has been listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since 2011 , has 20 production sites in 17 countries (as of early 2017) and employs around 20,000 people worldwide. In 2016, the company achieved sales of 18.6 billion yuan . On the one hand, it produces electronic components such as control units for air conditioning systems, operating units for infotainment systems and charge controllers for electric cars. In addition, Joyson also builds non-electronic components such as air inlets, windshield cleaning systems and steering wheels. Customers include numerous global automakers, including Daimler-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, General Motors and Ford.

Joyson Electronics was founded in 2004 by Wang Jianfeng (Jeff Wang), who is also the majority shareholder of Joyson Holding .

Since 2011, several companies have been acquired abroad, including the Preh Group in Germany . Together with Preh, Joyson Electronics took over the automotive division of TechniSat (TS GmbH) in 2016 . Further subsidiaries in Germany are the robotics company IMA and the steering wheel and decorative parts manufacturer QUIN. In the United States, Joyson Electronics has acquired the security technology manufacturer Key Safety Systems , headquartered in the state of Michigan, which also has two locations in Germany (Raunheim and Oberpfaffenhofen). The KSS Group produces, for example, airbags, active engine hoods, environmental sensors (for blind spot detectors, etc.) and seat belts.

In 2017, Joyson Electronics signed an agreement to take over almost all of the assets and operations of the insolvent Japanese automotive supplier Takata (manufacturer of airbags, seat belts and steering wheels) through its subsidiary KSS. This makes KSS a provider of car safety technology with 60,000 employees in 23 countries.
