The Judengasse in the Stuttgart-Mitte district of Stuttgart in the so-called Bohnenviertel is today's Brennerstraße.

course

The "Judengasse" began on Esslinger Straße, ran in a south-easterly direction and ended at the height of Weberstraße at the former city wall. It was around 150 meters long.

history

Jews were already living here before 1350 ; the first documented mention of the Judengasse comes from the year 1350. The Jewish community developed quickly, especially with the arrival of Jewish families from the countryside. The synagogue and the ritual bath at today's Brennerstrasse 12 no longer exist. In 1894 the Judengasse was renamed and has been called Brennerstrasse ever since.
