A cheese dome is kitchen utensil in the shape of a lintel made of glass or other material. Under the cheese dome, cheese and other foods are protected from pests and odors. The cheese dome is mainly used for foods that are stored at room temperature or that should reach this temperature before consumption.

In a figurative sense, the term is used in the phrase "living under the cheese dome" and describes someone who lives in his own world shut off from reality.
