K3 meat

When K3 meat are colloquially inedible for humans or non-specific commercial reasons for human consumption animal offal referred that as K3 materials are commercially available. As a food, their handling is determined by Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on food hygiene . A distinction must be made between food waste that has to be disposed of and products that are suitable for feeding certain animal species.

Products

  • Food that is not intended for human consumption for commercial reasons (e.g. almost all offal), although in principle they are fit for human consumption.
  • Food that is no longer suitable for human consumption (e.g. packaging defects, violation of temperature regulations). The exception is meat that has been declared unsuitable for reasons of epidemic hygiene or health hazards .
  • Parts unfit for consumption (horn, hoof, skin, genital organs, bladders)
  • Blood, except from ruminants
