The Kavallerie Readyermusik Bern (KBMB) is a wind band based in Bern , which has both a mounted and a concert band . The KBMB has a total of approx. 50 active members, of which around 25 participate in the mounted formation. The maintenance of the mounted game and traditional brass music are just as much a part of the club as concert performances with contemporary light music.

history

The Cavalry Ready Music Bern was founded in 1899 by employees of the Federal Cavalry Remontendepot under the name Ready Music Society Bern . The current name was first mentioned in 1905. In the same year she joined the Bernese Cantonal Music Association. Due to fewer members, the association ran the risk of being dissolved several times.

From 1933 not only riders, but also other employees of the Cavalry Remonten Depot could become members, which increased the number of members to 30 men. In 1949 the mounted military games were abolished and, as a result of a reorganization, the Cavalry Remonten Depot was converted into the Swiss Military Horse Institute (EMPFA). Despite a request in 1950, the KBMB was not upgraded to an official military game.

On the occasion of the inauguration of General Guisan's monument in 1967, the horses were transported by train for the last time. In 1996 the Swiss Federal Military Horse Institute was dissolved and taken over by private sponsorship. Since then, the services that are obtained from the National Horse Center NPZ Bern have been covered by a service contract with the Swiss Confederation.

Nowadays the club has a mounted and a concert formation as well as a music school for the promotion of young talent. Hugo Staudenmann has directed the association with interruptions since February 1989.
