KS Pałac Bydgoszcz ( Klub Sportowy Pałac Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish volleyball club in Bydgoszcz , which plays in the first Polish league. Members are exclusively women.

history

It was founded in 1982 as an association for the promotion of school volleyball in Bydgoszcz. The club therefore consisted mainly of juniors at the beginning. With the board of directors and the then coach Waldemar Sagan, a plan was drawn up, the main goal of which was to gradually strengthen the team and move up to the second division.

In the 1982/1983 season, the team played in a sub-class national league. The first place in these eliminations was entitled to move up directly to League II. The KS Pałac was able to end the season in third place in the table. The 1983/1984 season was similar.

The team achieved their first success in the 1984/1985 season. The first team was promoted to League II under coach Henryk Borowski.

In the following years the players showed a steadily improving form and were thus able to record more and more successes. Finally, the team managed to move up to the B group of the first division under the coaching duo Henryk Borowski and Waldemar Sagan.

Just two years later, KS Pałac won the Polish Cup and was able to qualify for the A group of the first division.

In the following season 1992/1993, the team, which competed under the name "Pałac / Samsung" , won the Polish championship. Ewa Kowalkowska, who still plays for Bydgoszcz to this day, was already in the squad.

Until 1998 the team could not win any national titles. But then succeeded as "Pałac / Centrostal / Eltra" to get the bronze medal in the Polish championship.

In the 1999/2000 season, the team managed to win the Polish Cup for the second time as “Bank Pocztowy / GCB / Gazeta Pomorska” .

A year later, the players managed to finish the season in second place.

The team was heard internationally for the first time in 2001/2002, when the players took third place in the Top Teams Cup straight away in their first international season . They also secured third place in the Polish league.

In 2007 the team finished the season in third place in the table and is therefore entitled to participate in international tournaments.

In the 2007/08 season Pałac rose to the second division. Thanks to the withdrawal of AZS Poznań, however, the club remained in the top division.

Venue

KS Pałac plays its home games in the Łuczniczka hall . The " Hala sportowo-widowiskowa Łuczniczka " was opened on October 11, 2002 and offers space for 8,000 people. It is one of the most modern halls in Poland. Every year, international volleyball matches and other international tournaments take place there.

National team

By 2007 the youth work of KS Pałac produced over twenty national players from different age groups.
