Neubrücke concentration camp subcamp

The Neubrücke subcamp was established in the municipality of Hoppstädten-Weiersbach in 1944 and operated until 1945. It was one of the numerous regional sub-camps of the concentration camp SS special camp Hinzert .

The prisoners were forced to work as forced laborers in the branch of Deutsche Edelstahlwerke AG (DEW) built directly to the south of the Neubrücke railway station and in the Steinautal to produce chassis and axles for the Hornet and Rhino self-propelled guns and the Sd.Kfz. 251 used.

The camp was opened on March 18, 1945 by troops of the 94th Infantry Division of the XX. 3rd US Army Corps liberated.
