Cable branch

Cable branch for different cable cross-sections

A cable branch or line distributor (colloquially also power thief ) is a connector using insulation displacement technology , which makes it possible to branch off a further cable from a continuous cable without breaking the circuit. Cable branches are available as T-connectors (exit of a cable) or as X-connectors (connecting two continuous cables). Areas of application can be found in automotive technology for retrofitted electrical devices, but also in control cabinets for temporary connections.

Because of the small cable cross-sections within the connector and because they can cut wires from stranded wires, they are neither suitable for higher currents nor for permanent connections.
