Kalle Tuominen (actually: Kaarlo Jalmari Tuominen ; born February 9, 1908 in Somerniemi , † October 20, 2006 Lieto ) was a Finnish obstacle runner who won Olympic silver in 1936.

Official world records in the 3,000 meter obstacle course were only introduced in 1954 with the introduction of the standard dimensions. In July 1936, the American Harold Manning had improved the unofficial world record to 9: 08.2 minutes. Nevertheless, in the run-up to the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, the Finns were the clear favorites, above all the defending champion Volmari Iso-Hollo . In the Olympic final on August 8th there were three Finns, three Americans and two Swedes and two Germans each. The Finns largely set the pace and were finally able to shake Manning off, only the German Alfred Dompert prevented the Finnish march through as third. Iso-Hollo won in 9: 03.8 minutes ahead of Tuominen in 9: 06.8 minutes and Dompert also stayed below Manning's old world record.

Two years later at the European Athletics Championships in Paris in 1938 , the obstacle course was also held for the first time at the European Championships. Iso-Hollo was no longer at the start. It won the Swede Lars Larsson ahead of the German Ludwig Kaindl and the Finn Alf Lindblad . Seven seconds behind Lindblad, Tuominen finished fourth in 9: 28.6 minutes.

At Finnish championships Tuominen was able to place nine times in the top three in the obstacle course, he was only national champion in 1937. In 1935 he was third in the 400 meter hurdles.

Kalle Tuominen was 1.77 m tall and weighed 68 kg during his playing days.
