Golgotha cross

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Golgothakreuz , also Golgothakreuz , Golgatakreuz or Calvary cross , is a Christian symbol and occurs as a coat of arms in the heraldry . Two forms are known.

A cross shape is the stepped cross , in which a maximum of three steps are selected as a cross point. In the other form, the cross stands on an arched line that is supposed to symbolize a mountain. In heraldry, a three-mountain is often chosen. The cross recalls Golgotha and Calvaries, the stations of Jesus Christ's passion .
