Sewer gas

Gas channel designated in the sewers and drains resulting fermentation gas through decomposition processes in sewage contained substances. It has an unpleasant odor.

In order to prevent sewer gas from escaping through the sewer pipes of a building into used areas, all drains are closed with an odor trap (also known as a siphon).
