Kapeni culture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kapeni culture is an Iron Age culture in Malawi in Africa . It is named after the locality of the same name in this country. The culture dates between 800 and 1100 AD and is mainly defined by its pottery . It can be found in some places of the Nkope culture and seems to have partly existed at the same time as it, and to have ultimately replaced it. Places of this culture are mostly found on the banks of the Shire , less often in the mountainous areas. The Kapeni culture coexisted with the Longwe culture .
